"The
simple and the sublime live together in two materials united by inspiration. After heavy rains, the ancient industrial days
of past harvests are revealed in old metal pieces that rise slowly from the red dirt of West Maui. These found objects have
called to me for years, resulting in the interaction of steel and clay to inform this new series.
The
work explores the interplay and eventual unity of the two materials together by the use of shape, light, and shadow to ultimately
develop and define the relationship between form and space."
